Modern wingback chair evoke an air of elegance and sophistication. The chairs originated in the 1700s and were designed to protect the occupant from drafts in an old house or from the heat of a fireplace. The use of an armchair as a dining chair works well in formal, highly ornate dining rooms. The table is pushed up the chair until it should have enough space underneath and between its legs to accommodate the extra-large size of most of the wing chairs.
Apply a stain repellent to any modern wingback chair with fabric upholstery. Make sure that the stain repellent is applied to the entire chair. The stain repellent helps protect the tissue in case a food or drink is dropped on it. Rub leather sealant everywhere any leather chair you want to use on the dining table.
While leather is more resistant than cloth, you still need to make sure it is protected at all times. Place the chair on its back so you can access the lower part of the legs. Apply a small piece of felt-sticky backed to the bottom of the legs of the chair. The felt allows your modern wingback chair to move without scratching your floors.
